3 Tips for Looking Trendy with a Face Mask

3 Tips for Looking Trendy with a Face Mask

By  Robert Ruiz

For most people, wearing a face mask is an unfortunate circumstance as a result of the time that we live in. Currently, mask mandates are still in effect for much of the country, but this can actually be a great opportunity to show your personal style and taste. Whether you're out shopping, at a formal event, or going to work, there are still plenty of options available that don't make you look like you're about to do surgery. Here are three ways that you can use face masks to accent whatever outfit you are wearing.

#1 Stick to Black

When it comes to face masks, you want one that will go well with your outfit. One that stands out from the outfit will appear intentionally inconvenient, which will take away from whatever image you are trying to project. For those new to the fashion world, there is one thing that is well-known: Black goes with everything. Whether you're wearing formal or casual attire, black can go well with whatever it is. The only downside to wearing this color consistently is that it can get boring rather quickly. A great way to change it up is to follow the second piece of advice on this list.

#2 Learn to Match Patterns

Wearing black on a regular basis can get boring, especially for people who have a unique and adventurous wardrobe pallet. If you plan on wearing dresses with different patterns, you may want to find face masks with similar patterns. Fortunately, with many people still wearing masks in public, many companies have decided to manufacture masks with a variety of patterns to choose from. By doing this, you can create a unique look that complements your outfit without pulling focus to the mask itself. However, it may take time to find patterns that go well with each other, so take time to mix and match to see which ones look best.

#3 Be Creative

Just because you can't find a face mask that looks good for a particular outfit doesn't mean that you can't improvise. There are a plethora of tutorials on websites like Youtube, Wikihow, and others that teach people how to color fabric in different ways. For instance, if you're wearing a lavender-colored skirt and can't find a face mask that goes with it, you can learn how to match that color via one of those tutorials.

Let's be honest, no one wants to wear face masks. Wearing ones that look nice are, at best, making the most of a bad situation. Fortunately, they do create an opportunity for a unique and creative reflection in a relatively inexpensive way. For those of us who choose to use this as that opportunity, we will likely look back on wearing these things and realize how fun they were. Making face masks fun is a great way to spread some optimism in an otherwise scary and uncertain time, instilling a bit of joy into each person who sees it.
